Date: Fri, 20 Dec 2002 19:39:41 -0800 Hello RB developers/fans-- I remember when I saw my first Archos player about a year ago; I was impressed with its capacity, compactness, ability to play VBR MP3s, etc. Soon after, I saw the Rockbox pages go up, but it was early in the RB project and the groundswell was still forming, so there was no code for public consumption. Fast forward a year (I forgot about the RB project! :-O ) and I couldn't believe what I was reading on the RB site. It blew me away. And now that the pricing on the AJBR was reasonable, I couldn't see why I should wait any longer, so I got one. Before long I had a recent build up and running on my Archos, and was playing with wps configs and fnt files. I'm still in disbelief over your collective work. And if anything, I see it as rather embarrassing for Archos; yes I know they're a small company trying to compete with the likes of Creative, and that resources are probably stretched. But to see them ignore both users (email, what's that?) and basic bug fixing (e.g. the whine in the Recorder playback mode) while developing a handheld 1" color LCD DivX player is rather annoying. At least they saved face by asking to use your code for the new CD-ROMs in future packaging. I want to just say 'thank you' for all your hard work. I'm getting ready to travel soon and I know I'll appreciate having the nice sound of the AJBR and my Ety ER-4P's to block out the plane noise. :) Is there a donation site set up yet? I see there was a tshirt project going on..are they being sold to support Rockbox? I have no real coding skills, but I am fairly adept at audio tech / recording / compression / editing / analysis / etc. so I'll lend a hand if someone asks. Thanks again, and everyone have some good end of year holidays! -matt sf, ca, us -- -------------------------------------------------------------------------Received on 2002-12-21 Page template was last modified "Tue Sep 7 00:00:02 2021" The Rockbox Crew -- Privacy Policy |
