Perhaps add the playlist path error-correction/guessing to it, but while
doing so, have it bring up a note for a few seconds indicating that the
playlist creation software is faulty, and Rockbox is attempting to cleverly
guesstimate what it means, but you should really write to the program
manufacturer and ask them to fix their software.
It keeps the feature and convenience, and hopefully also helps direct some
feedback and compliance requests to shoddy software manufacturers.

Not that I like taking things to the extreme (but), this is exactly
how/why code that is broken/wrong manages to stay alive.
Personally I'd rather just respond to each email/bug report that we get
that states we have this bug, a canned response stating why the problem
If they are taking the time to notify us, they should take the time to
notify the company that build the originating software wrong.
But Im an idealist,

I agree, in principle. However refusing to support bad paths will just land
us repeated bug reports and support headaches. "It works with the Archos
firmware so it must be a bug in Rockbox".
It's just a dozen lines of code or so. We might aswell add it.
