Upgraded Archos Jukebox Recorder 20 to 60 GB

From: Christopher John Shaker <>

Just a report to say that the Toshiba 60 GB hard disk works in my Archos.

Using the instructions at:,
and, I removed the stock 20 GB Hitachi
DK23DA-0F hard disk from my Archos Jukebox Recorder 20, and replaced it with
a Toshiba MK6021GAS 9.5mm 2.5" Notebook HDD 60GB 4200rpm 12ms ATA-100 ULTRA.
Works great. The stock firmware sees the larger disk. So does RockBox.

Also replaced the stock 1500 mAhr NiHyd batteries with some 1800 mAhr
batteries that I had on hand.

Between these two changes, the 'hangs', where music would stop playing for
no apparent reason have stopped for me *so far*. I've run the stock Archos
and the Rockbox daily build from Feb 13, 2003 on it with no problems yet.

Many thanks to the Rockbox team, and to the writers of the web pages above!
