There are not really any other preamplified microphones out there in this price range that I can find. Your next alternative for mic setup is build your own preamp or move up to professional grade equipment. You aren't going to get away with spending much less than $200 on pro type equipment. As Matthew pointed out, you can use the Archos preamp with a better quality microphone in the future if you want to upgrade your setup. Just remember if you choose a condenser type mic, it will need a battery either built in or inline, in addition to using the preamp.
