S/PDIF is the digital interface most devices use, but it has several manifestations, including RCA-style (the most common) and optical (nearly as common). The optical interface actually uses a fiber-optic cable to transmit information via lightwaves. The RCA cable is just like any other RCA cable, really - it uses electrical signals to transmit the digital information. My guess is that you have a 3.5mm stereo jack (which is the same concept as RCA style), since it works with another device. (Unless for some reason the fiberoptic cable actually "fits" into a standard 3.5mm jack...) Some of the inputs and outputs on the original jukeboxes (Jukebox 6000 for instance) were non-functional. I don't know if that extended to the digital interface, but it might. What model player/recorder do you have? Hi, I have been a very happy user of rockbox 1.4 (I found it through google when I was really frustrated with the poor resume feature of the original archos firmware). Thank you very much for actively developing it. :-) Now onto my question: I would like to use the optical digital out feature of archos jukebox for playback through my home theater system. I bought an optical cable (SONY POC-20AP) with toslink connectors and optical mini plug adapters. The cable when connected to the optical mini-plug adapter fits nicely into archos jukebox but I get no output signal. Similarly, when I try to record something through my archos, I get no input signal. What am I missing ? Am I using the wrong cable ? BTW, The same cable (with toslink connection) works fine with my PC's digital audio out. Has anyone been able to use the digital out successfully ? thank you very much inder Received on 2003-02-23 Page template was last modified "Tue Sep 7 00:00:02 2021" The Rockbox Crew -- Privacy Policy |
