I found that the battery spring on the top left hand corner of the unit was not making contact properly with the battery. I VERY gently pulled the spring out with a paitr of tweezers. Be careful as there is a wire soldered across this spring and you don't want to break it! I bought new batteries (Energizer ACCU 1.2v-1850mAh) and charged them overnight. I then reformatted the drive from "My Computer" (right click and choose format) and installed the Rockbox firmware version 1.4. Everything seems to be going perfectly now. I must have knocked the unit around too much when I had it on my belt. I hope this helps. By the way I am using Win XP Pro just in case there is a different process involved when reformatting under other OS. Good Luck and try to stay calm. My AJBR was almost thrown out of the window a couple of times) from: http://www.watervalley.net/cgi-bin/bb/YaBB.pl?board=Archos&action=display&nu m=1034268695 -----Original Message----- From: Leif Sawyer [mailto:lsawyer_at_gci.com] Sent: Wednesday, February 26, 2003 2:04 PM To: rockbox_at_cool.haxx.se Subject: Problems booting with toshiba 60G drive I've run into a problem, and not sure if there is a valid solution for this. I upgraded my JBR-20 with a Toshiba MK6021GAS almost exactly a month ago. It's been working great up until today, when I turned it on to discover the following message: hd register error sc1 (85) 128 sn1 (170) 128 sc2 (170) 128 sn2 (85) 128 The unit then shuts off after a few seconds. I tried listening to it while turning it on again, and the HD doesn't even spin up. It just click-hums, as if there isn't enough juice -- which is odd, because it had been freshly charged the day before, and was at least 70% when I put it away for the night. I've left it on the charger, but don't know if it will actually charge without being 'booted', just to see if that makes a difference. It doesn't spin up while plugged in either. i've been running a CVS version from mid-Jan, but unfortunately don't have the ability to check which one.. :-\ Has anybody successfully managed to solve this error?
