There are smaller ones from Vishay (6*7mm): http://www.vishay.com/ir-receiver-modules/ So far I only got a 5V model of the small shape. The TSOP18xx3V are for 3 volt supply and need only half the current, that one is still on order. It might be possible to power one of these from the 1k pullup of the remote pin (with diode and capacitor), meaning you don't have to open the Archos. Diava already made a driver for decoding an RC5 sequence from that pin, he can IR-control his jukebox (external 5V power for the receiver). Diava, how about releasing the patch this weekend? > I dismantled the jukebox and I'm trying to find a > place to put the chip. It's 10x12x4mm, it must be > behind a clear/shaded acrylic window, any ideas > anyone? Even with my smaller one I gave up that idea. The only chance I saw was to remove the microphone and widen that hole. You can buy plastic fibers for cheap by the meter at Conrad (Germany), or cut a TOSLink cable. But fiberoptics will probably result in bad performance, you don't get enough light through. You would need something like a lens focusing into the fiber, but from a wide angle. There is a reason that the manufactureres of photodiodes try to make the receiving area large, like 2*2 mm. > P.S. I'll mail a free SFH506 to the 1st person who > comes up with a valid idea that does not look bad > on the jukebox. Mail me a TSOP18xx3V, please. ;-) Jörg -- +++ GMX - Mail, Messaging & more http://www.gmx.net +++ Bitte lächeln!
