Rockbox mail archiveSubject: Praise + What does Archos think of this?Praise + What does Archos think of this?

Date: Sat, 05 Apr 2003 14:12:14 -0500 Dear Rockbox Team: I couldn't find the "effusive-praise" mailing list, so I guess I'll just have to post it here: What an amazing job! My son downloaded v1.4 onto his AJBR last night and eagerly called me over to see it "Dad, check this out, it's incredible!". He was amazed -- everything was faster, better, and more bulletproof than the stock Archos code. And he has stopped his hankering for an iPOD. Good work gentlemen! I maintain minidisc.org and yesterday added hard disk recorders to the equipment tables because so many folks keep asking "How can I upload my homemade MD recordings to a PC?" and I get tired of apologizing that you can't do it with Minidisc because Sony doesn't see fit to allow their customers unfettered access to their own audio. Up until now I have been hesitant to recommend the AJBR because its user interface for making recordings was so awful. But I am delighted to see how far along this project is and that you have fixed (or are fixing) so many of the original devices problems. I am quite eager to try the automatic file naming in record mode -- this is probably the device's biggest stumbling block for people using it to record. Of course I have added a Rockbox link to the AJBR equipment entries in minidisc.org. (See: http://www.minidisc.org/uploader_table.html) Here is a question I could not find addressed in the FAQ: Has Archos been in contact with you at all? How do they view your work? (Can they possibly mind that someone has written software that makes their devices even more useful?). Have they asked about using any of your code or ideas? Again, my heartfelt thanks for your hard work! Sincerely, Eric Woudenberg Received on 2003-04-05 Page template was last modified "Tue Sep 7 00:00:02 2021" The Rockbox Crew -- Privacy Policy |
