Subject: #673350 "Improvements for status line"

#673350 "Improvements for status line"

Change #673350 "Improvements for status line" has been rejected for
2.0 with reason: "No good reason. 2.1 material.".

As you all know, the Recorder has problems with big file transfers:
the batteries drain during the I/O operation because the charger
cannot keep up with the load. As a consequence, during the file
transfer, the unit suddenly shuts down leaving the host system in
state of "shock and awe", sometimes panic.

There seems to be no real solution for this problem.

Change #673350 used to add a number of features to the status bar
display, most of which are currently already implemented. There is,
however, one extra feature in the change that may seem unimportant,
while it is, in fact, very helpful in the case of the Recorder
problem: the status bar will always show the actual battery level and
the "charger connected" symbol will blink to denote charging. With the
actual battery level shown, it is at least possible to manually
suspend a big file transfer shortly before the unit shuts down, and
resume it when the unit has gotten time to recharge.

Please reconsider the feature for 2.0. Thanks.
