Rockbox mail archiveSubject: OT: HD error on Archos Jukebox Studio 20OT: HD error on Archos Jukebox Studio 20
From: Johannes Hüsing <hannes_at_ruhrau.de>
Date: Sat, 12 Apr 2003 17:43:06 +0200 Dear all, this happens prior to my efforts to install the newest version of Rockbox, and is very well unrelated to Rockbox, but maybe anyone knows an answer to the problem: When switching on Archos Jukebox Studio 20, I get the following message on the screen: Jukebox Ver : 5.08 followed by HD Error followed by ------- I followed the instructions in http://bjorn.haxx.se/isd200/ and installed a kernel with ISD200 support. After modprobe usb-storage and modprobe usb-ohci something was visible at a SCSI port. The log said: Apr 12 16:48:24 qossuth kernel: hub.c: USB new device connect on bus1/2, assigned device number 3 Apr 12 16:48:24 qossuth kernel: Manufacturer: In-System Design Apr 12 16:48:24 qossuth kernel: Product: USB Storage Adapter Apr 12 16:48:24 qossuth kernel: SerialNumber: 7024885AA5E2FF09 Apr 12 16:48:25 qossuth kernel: scsi1 : SCSI emulation for USB Mass Storage devices Apr 12 16:48:25 qossuth kernel: Vendor: HITACHI_ Model: DK23CA-20 Rev: 00H1 Apr 12 16:48:25 qossuth kernel: Type: Direct-Access ANSI SCSI revision: 02 Apr 12 16:48:25 qossuth kernel: Attached scsi disk sde at scsi1, channel 0, id 0, lun 0 Apr 12 16:48:25 qossuth kernel: SCSI device sde: 39070080 512-byte hdwr sectors (20004 MB) Next, I tried mount /dev/sde1 -t vfat /mnt/usb and got the error message ... is not a valid block device. I assume that the HD on Archos, including partition table, is broken, and try to run fdisk /devsde but to no avail: could not read /dev/sde Any idea of what I should try next? Greetings Johannes -- Johannes Hüsing There is something fascinating about science. One gets hannes_at_ruhrau.de such wholesale returns of conjecture from such a trifling investment of fact.
