Subject: rockbox tools dir / Makefile & Win32SDK

rockbox tools dir / Makefile & Win32SDK

Hello,

I want to simplify the rockbox win32sdk a little bit.
since it is a concept (due to size), that win32 sdk just can compile code
for the archos processor,
i separately supply the rockbox tools in win32 binary form.

unfortunately, these tools are referenced by the firmware makefile from
within the rockbox-sourcedir,
so everytime when a user installs win32 sdk or when a user purges rockbox
sourcedir and cvs`ses fresh source, he has to copy the rockbox tools back
again.
I was asked often, that compiling failed. some people didn`t read the docs
well, and they
forgot to copy the tools to tools dir. (and the error the get is somewhat
"cryptic")

Could your firmware Makefile (and from whatelse places tools being
referenced) honour the rockbox
tools being supplied in another dir besides ~rb-builddir/tools ?

The simplest way is, that I put them in c:\cygwin\bin or c:\cygwin\rb-tools
and during make they could first being searched there.
I would really like, if you could take this into account (if that makes
sense to you). Perhaps you have a tip for a better solution ?

regards
roland
