Lurker speaks out

Okay, after the latest "We Give Up" thread, it's probably time
for me to speak up. I've been using Rockbox since October/November
of last year. I bought an Archos because of Rockbox. No kidding.
I wanted a portable MP3 player that could hold my entire collection
of MP3's/CD's and I wanted a "hackable" device. I installed Rockbox
the day my Archos arrived. I used the original Archos firmware for
about five minutes and determined that it was completely unusable.

I have been totally impressed with the work you guys have done
with Rockbox. In addition to using the Archos as I walk to/from work
I also use it on the air. I'm a volunteer DJ at a local public radio
station. I simply patch the Archos into the board and control the
volume through the pot. Without Rockbox, using the Archos on the air
would be impossible! Rockbox 2.0 w/queueing has made a huge
impact on the quality of my show. I've patched the 2.0 release with
the Next/Previous Volume patch which gives me a smooth transition
between songs. Dynamic queueing allows me to build my set on the fly.
Again, as you know, none of this would be possible without Rockbox.

The only thing that is missing for me is the ability to view
ID3 tags of a song from the WPS. For example, there are times where
I need to fill three minutes. I would like to browse my music and
look at the lengths while another song is playing. Also, single
song play would be nice, but to me, it's not as important as being
able to view ID3 of a different song from the WPS.

Again, great work guys. I'm impressed with the level of engineering
and commitment you've provided.
