Well, after 3 hours of intensive testing of various music styles on
Archos, standard rockbox and special soundcheck1 firmwares I am ashame
to confess that I cannot detect noticeable differences between the 3
firmwares. I don't know if my ears are too old or if the musics I like
are not adequate for perceiving the phenomenon (e.g. no techno, house,
heavy metal, hard rock, rap or drum and bass in general).

Since it was full night here I have tested only with the JBR headset and
not on my stereo system (I leave in a flat...). Though I suspect it was
the conditions where I had a chance to "see" something since on my
stereo I use all-flat adjustments (bass=treble=loudness=bass_boost=0)
while on the headset I have 9dB for the loudness and 50 % for the bass
boost parameters. And if my guess is correct about what Linus may have
changed I have no chance to find a difference with all-flat settings, no ?

Sorry... I shall try on the stereo system with true loudspeakers later
today Jean.

NB: Volume settting was at 85 all along, if that matters too.
