Even though splitting the display mid-word can be confusing, I think it’s the best way to do things because it offers the user a very fast scroll method that some people may prefer over the more standard but slower standard scrolling method. Jump scroll actually works nicely in conjunction with my "alternating wps lines" mod that I am working on. In case you are not familiar with it, my alternating wps lines mod lets you break items on a wps line into two or more alternating line items that are displayed in a similar manner to your jump scroll, but with the user being able to specify the start point of each jump. However, even with my alternating wps lines mod, a line is still scrolled before jumping to the next one when one of the alternating wps lines that the user has defined is longer than the display width, and using both together would make your jump scroll mode even more powerful as an optional scrolling method. For example, in combining your jump scroll mode with my optional alternating wps line mode, a wps line with song title, artist, and album could be displayed like this: Artist Long song t itle text Album name As opposed to using jump scroll by itself which would display the same information like this: Artist – Lo ng song tit le text – A lbum name Using the two modes together will allow the user to specify some logical jump points between the wps items, and then jump scroll the parts that are still too long to fit on one line. I am finishing cleaning up my code for the alternating sublines mod and am about to submit a patch, but a while back I posted documentation and test executables on my website for people to try and offer comments. If you would like to take a look at it before I submit my patch, check it out at: http://home.pacbell.net/csath ===== Craig rb_dev_at_yahoo.com __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!?
