just transfer the file to your recorder. there's no need to do anything else with it..
de recorder checks for the excistence of the file (automaticly), and if it's there, it'll use it

that means you did not install an update..no problem! you have firmware somewhere in the
internals of your device. this firmware checks for the excistence of new firmware, in the form
of the file. if it's there, it'll load it. if it's not, it will load from the standard that you cannot
delete, so you can't do anything wrong :)))

ps: so installiung rockbox is harmless: you don't like it, just remove the file! no install needed
