HI everyone,


I have been on this list approximately 9 months. Frank Incensed's post
was the first of it's kind that I noticed. Being a system
administrator, I realize that everyone is at their own level of
understanding when it comes to, well, basically anything, but for this
list and my job, it's computer related knowledge. I attempt to do
three things in my work: 1) Try to understand the level of
understanding this person has 2) Do my best to not make them feel
stupid 3) Help them based on their level of understanding.

After reading the posts that have been exchanged with Frank, I found
myself impressed by the responses from this group. I'd like to commend
everyone that displays integrity and offers positive input.

Flamers that are ignored will flame elsewhere. Engaging them is
precisely what they would like.

I don't write code for RockBox. I troll the mailing list and
occasionally participate in discussions such as batteries, usb, etc.
Part of me wishes that I had the time to be an active participant. I
do enjoy being a semi-active participant in the discussion.

It appears that this mailing list has seen a couple of "firsts." Frank
seemed to be the first person on the mailing list that needed some
extra effort from the people helping him. And, we've seen our first
flame. Unfortunately, I doubt that it will be the last flame. I don't
know if anyone has ever considered banning a person from this mailing
list. I don't really think that censorship is a good idea in any form.
  However, I do know that an ignored flamer will find another place to
flame.

Thanks again everyone; including you Martin. I hope that everyone
finds what they are looking for in this mailing list and everyone that
does not, will find it elsewhere.
