I just tested and got that, too. What a drag, this booting...

I made a systematic check on ata.c, stepping back the versions in cvs. The
extra seconds were introduced from 1.88 to 1.89, with Björn's changes on the
ATA init wait that made flash start possible for many people in the first
place (the difference between my first and second release).

Hmm, either wait for spinup quick and dirty or slow and certain, it seems.
But I hope we'll find the optimum some time soon.
