I did notice on my FM, after flashing, that a very short press of the "On" button resulted in the backlight and green led coming on briefly (three tenths of a second?) before both went out, with nothing else happening.

In fact, I can with practice (during writing this email) duplicate it. A very quick tap of "On" gets me just the green led sometimes with and sometimes without some disk spinning noise.

After the first such quick "On" tap, the backlight no longer comes on. The disk spin noise is intermittent, about every thrird quick on tap.

But holding down "On" always gets me booted.

Try the following: plug in the charger, then press and hold "ON" for at least three seconds. If that doesn't work, press and hold "ON" and "F1" for three seconds.
