Once again, better visible a a new thread:

One dear user broke his box flashing it, it was an FM with hardware mask
0x0504. Until the cause is resolved, I'd like to issue a big warning for FM
users with that hardware version. Please don't flash yours for the time being! If
you already did and succeeded, please post so.

I have no explaination for this by now, at least the safety image should
have worked. Except for the hardware mask, the original flash content was
identical to the unit I used, as well as the boot ROM. My bootlader should have
run, what else could the box do? The boot ROM is not using the hardware mask,
only the later application softtware.
