It pauses the scroll... :-)
Next question: "Why doesn't anybody use that?"
Answer: Some old future-stuff somebody implemented a long time ago and people
(like me) missed to remove when changing the code.
Feel free to remove the define and the line using that define. No one will see
the difference.
