Following is the output from my computer for the commands posted earlier.
As you can see from the first entry, the "Product=" line shows USB 2.0.
Also the Spd= in the first Bus= line may show the USB2 speed? The driver
is ehci-hcd as shown in the "Manufacturer=" line. The first entry is the
USB2 PCI card.

The second entry is the Archos one, and this also shows USB2, although
this is simply a model name inserted by Archos.

The computer has a built in USB1.1 port, and this can be seen to have a
Spd=12 entry.

The later entries are sound and video for the Phillips Webcam, and are not
of interest here, unless you want to see pictures of me washing my bike in
the back yard earlier today!

It looks like the Spd= entry is the useful part, as the Product= entries
are created by the hardware manufacturer to say what they are, rather than
what you actually see. You will need to have the ehci-hcd driver installed
to get USB2 regardless of your hardware.
