It's not entirely true that deleting .playlist_control won't hurt
anything. Specifically, bad things may happen if you delete it while
playing a track. Also, you will not be able to resume the last
playlist. In general, there should be no reason for you to touch the file.

If you have seen problems that were fixed by deleting this file, please
report them as they are bugs that need to be fixed.
