Thanks Fred. I looked at that one. The problem with it, as with most of the
splitters aimed at album rippers, is that it only handles one source file at a
time. An audio book from CD may have as many as 12 CD images. A
cassette-based book may have as many as 25. Not being able to batch the job
and leave makes it a very tedious task.

I think the mp3cut from sourceforge is going to do the trick, along with some
fancy batch file programming. Either that or this perl program. Mp3cut came
with source, natch, so if worse comes to worse I can set up a compiler and
make my own changes.
