Well, in spite of my fears, I seem to have installed Rockbox
properly. I could not figure out what "unmount" or "eject" the USB
device meant. Couldn't find an explanation in XP's help files (I'm
primarily a Mac person but I have a PC). I downloaded the two
software programs recommended to accomplish this, but didn't
understand how to use either one. So I did what may have been a
"no-no" and just turned the computer and Archos off and disconnected
the USB cable. My understanding was that firewire and USB devices can
be disconnected while the devices are on (at least they can on the
Mac), so I am not sure what "Make sure you 'eject' (unmount) the usb
disk before you unplug it" means, or what the consequences are of NOT
doing it.

It seems to be working fine. The LCD screen was very dark, but I
figured out how to change that.

I have 2 more questions if someone would be so kind. I charged the
batteries until the screen went blank and it seemed done. Then I let
it set for 2 days before I got time and courage to deal with it. Now
the battery graphic is a little less than half full. I didn't
understand the PDF manual's instructions about "trickle" and "full
discharge". Can I just plug it in each night when I get home from
work for the next night, or do I have to change a setting somewhere,
or what?

I can't seem to get back to the list of books I put on to listen to.
The left key (I think it is F1) gives me the option to change
settings, but I haven't figured out how to get back to the menu to
choose a different book, or to start over the one I am listening to
as a test but not really listening to.

This is really neat! I LOVE that resume feature...it goes back
EXACTLY where I left off! Superb feature for listening to audiobooks.
Does it still remember the spot if the batteries go dead?

Thanks for all your help getting Spot to run!

Sharon
