Subject: serial interface uses

serial interface uses

Hi,

Apologies if this has been suggested before but I've been thinking about
the serial mod, and its possible uses...

A PIC chip (e.g. the 16F628) has 16 i/o pins and can easily be
programmed to talk to RS232 or similar serial device and an LCD display
- could such a setup be used as a bi-directional remote?

If rockbox supported a remote of this type, and defined a protocol, a
PIC program could be created and remote controls made quite cheaply...
any takers?

Regards,
Colin Gilchrist
