For example, is resume on or off in the menus? What's the volume control set at? I know this would be very slow, but rockbox could probably get its mp3 files from a directory on the disk, rather than from memory, thus saving memory. Is that technically possible? I think that it would be possible to have low bit-rate mono MP3s stored in the RAM for use by the visually impaired. What about the spoken letters of the alphabet, numbers, and symbols plus common words? That would allow AJB to "say" things like "Folder" "T" "H" "E" "space" "B" "E" "A" "T" "L" "E" "S" ... and ... "MP3" "Y" "E" "S" "T" "E" "R" "D" "A" "Y" I admit that it's not going to make the AJB a pleasure for the visually impaired, but it would make it usable in ways that it is not now. These spoken words, phrases, and characters could be loaded from hard disk and unloaded when music was playing. That would also allow one to easily create versions for the visually impaired in multiple languages. Thoughts?
