Date: Tue, 23 Sep 2003 05:15:00 -0400 I'm glad that you like the idea. I believe that the Rockbox firmware should load all of the words, characters, etc. into RAM whenever music is not playing and unload them when an MP3 is selected. That way, there would be a single disc access to load the voice data and then it would be fast and not beat up on the disc. It should have all letters and common symbols spoken: A-Z, plus, minus, period, etc. I think that it should have such words as: file directory volume bass treble balance channels sort show files scroll speed start delay backlight contrast on off It should have the following numbers (allowing it to speak any number between 0 and 999): zero one two three four five six seven eight nine ten eleven twelve thirteen fourteen fifteen sixteen seventeen eighteen nineteen twenty thirty forty fifty sixty seventy eighty ninety hundred I really do think that this could be made to work very well.
