From: Neon John <johngd_at_bellsouth.net>
Date: Thu, 25 Sep 2003 22:05:16 -0400 I took my FMR (swelled batteries, broken screen) back to Best Buys today. As I expected, no FMR or other Archos product in stock. Ended up with a store credit which I promptly spent on a Magellan Meridian Platinum GPS receiver (hmmm, guess I need to go to another list to gripe about THAT :P-) Of interest to this list, it looks like Best Buys is finished with Archos. I got the service dept manager (a guy with some gray hair and a clue!!) to help me and we started checking. He thought I could use the store credit on the web site, something the 1-800-yeah-right dweeb told me I couldn't do. We went to the bestbuys.com website and tried to look up a Recorder 20. Out of stock. He took the stock number and looked it up using the in-store computer. Out of stock and no longer available. We then looked at all the Archos products listed in the computer. All out of stock and no longer available. He said that NLA means that they will not ever stock that item again. Guess that closes that chapter on Archos. Of further interest, I got him to look up the SKU on the Recorder and then the FMR which are still in the database. They no longer offer a product replacement policy on those items, only a product service policy (which according to him means that they'll mail it off to the mfr for me...) Looks like Best Buys got burned on Archos trying to warrant it.
