Mandrake is my desktop linux of choice. I've started carrying a bootable
Knoppix 3.3 CD with me since it lets me go to any old PC (that can boot from
CD-ROM) and do useful "stuff" (web browsing, word processing, etc.). If
you've got broadband, I highly recommend downloading an ISO of Knoppix 3.3
from a local mirror:
