I suspect I screwed up the > internal components of the ear out connector somehow. (I.E., the connector > seems a bit loose when something is connected) i have this problem also, only in a more advanced stage. it is definitely a loose jack, mine wiggles quite a bit now. i've found about 6 different functions which it can be wiggled to, which i think is pretty interesting. they are: no sound, left channel only, right channel only, both channels but only higher frequencies (typically singing and/or guitar), both channels but only lower frequencies (typically drums, bass, etc.), and both channels normal. at first a thought it was the headphones, as having to fiddle with the connector to get both channels is a fairly common practice, depending on the quality of the headphones, but realized it wasn't when i used them with something else. i've almost mastered the technique of holding the jack to the right place, but it's still terribly annoying. > So, what're my options here? > Anyone know how, or of a way to get this fixed? Any freelance hardware > people? ;)~~ my guess is that a re-soldering would fix this, but you have to take the haves apart--which requires un-soldering the 7 points--to get access to it. this seems to be a fairly common problem, so i'm sure _someone_ has found and fixed the problem before. one of the nice things about the archos is, while they seem to break a lot, they are relatively easy to fix (compared to, say, an ipod). a good start would be to search the mail archives for something like this. i seem to recall reading something similar a few months back. > solarcide - Nathaniel -scott __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!?
