Well, after less than 10 months, my FMR just died. Won't even turn on.
  The charging circuit had been going bad anyway, but it still worked
fine for the most part. I'm going to take it apart and put it back
together, hoping to reseat something coincidentally. If not, I may give
it one last shot by sending it out to repair (anyone have feedback on
that company?).

One reason I went with Archos was the availability of Rockbox. I wonder
how much business they've gained because people found out about the
great efforts here; it's a shame that they really don't seem to
recognize that. But having the best firmware doesn't matter much if the
hardware sucks. I will never buy another Archos product again (I had
previously had a neutral-at-best experience with the CDR, but chalked it
up to immature technology). I'm hoping I can salvage the material on
disk and go on my merry way with a different product like Creative, etc.

Sigh.
