Let me ask you a question: Why is it so important that the device displays "CHARGING" instead of the current directory? The battery is still charging, even if Rockbox is running. BTW, you can't shut off the player when the charger is attached. The device is still on, even when in "charging mode", how else can the display show the text? > 2.
