No, stick to the "its", the mp3 does not cutoff, the speaker (or headphones) do. To be really picky, the phones still don't play these frequencies, but the psychoacustics are fooled by adding harmonics to a non-playable bass. The brain is fooled by the audible harmonics and thinks the bass is there. I don't know if bass boost in the case of the MAS works this way (bass simulation), or if it's just an amplification.
