Risks >snip< Yeah, but it was working after the flash for about an hour just fine. I could use all options, but I did notice that the USB-2 transfers were slower than they should be. In retrospect, I think this is a bad HD, unrelated to the Flashing. > >Have a little compassion you bastard, and do your jokes and bashing elsewhere. > > come on! be nice to each other - this is not the kind of way we should speak to > each other on this list! I agree, but I don't appreciate trying to find out what this error code means, and Mr. High & Mighty Thomas Paul Diffenbach uses my misfortune to trash the FM or V2 model that I was clearly not using. > it`s annoying to break expensive hardware - but that`s just a shitty little piece of > hardware which is known to fail very often, so it is not even worth to be angry about > or even curse at each other, because of that. > you probably get this fixed with the help from this nice people here - or - you probably > have a general hardware problem with your hdd inside and have to contact archos. but you > could be out of luck because they would complain about the flashing. but there is http://www.newmp3technology.com/ as an alternative > which repair them at a fixed price. > So you consider the 20GB Recorder to be a "shitty little piece of hardware which is known to fail very often" ??? I wish everyone would have made this clear about the 50277 model before I bought two of them. I am now using the second one that I did not, and will not flash and it seems to be working well. In addition, thank God I bought these from Amazon, because getting no help here, I complained by phone to Amazon that the unit was defective on arrival. They cheerfully are shipping me a replacement at no charge 2 Day Airmail, and a pre-paid postage label for me to return this one. So, I hope this is a lesson to everyone NOT TO FLASH THEIR FIRMWARE, or expect the Rockbox email list to help solve your hardware failure problems. I had sent the Rockbox Website PayPal $30 in appreciation of their software too. Oh well. Live and learn. > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "SteamShip" <steamship_at_sbcglobal.net> > To: <rockbox_at_cool.haxx.se> > Sent: Saturday, December 13, 2003 10:05 PM > Subject: Re: ATA Error -52 HELP!
