The USB cable is not "non-standard". My HP digital camera uses the same
cable, as do many other consumer devices. You can pick one up at many
electronics stores. I think it's called "A to mini-B" or something like
that - certainly the "mini" bit is what you are looking for!

Both the FMR amd the V2 charge from USB, but I'm sure the older models
didn't.

It does have SPDIF, but only IN by default, although I understand a
hardware hack can change this to give OUT as well.
