OK, I went back to the old way of testing. It is USB 2.0, I'm not a
dumbass, and Archos are still idiots who mislabeled the back of the box of
this 20 GB recorder being only 12Mbps, and I am back on the trail of the
Holy Grail searching for a high quality, shielded cable.

I just transferred a 130 MB video file to Archos in about 9 seconds (slower
drive), and from the Archos back to the PC in about 4 seconds. If I do the
math right, (8 bits x 130 Mbytes)/4 seconds = 260 Mbps which is probably a
real world transfer rate for Fast Speed USB 2.0

I also transferred a batch of 6 Video zip files averaging in size between
30-40 MB's, adding up to 227MB's to the Archos in 18 seconds, and from the
Archos back to the PC in 12 seconds. The same calculation is 100 Mbps in,
and 151 Mbps out.

One more point of clarification on USB Nomenclature, that has replaced the
1.0, 1.1, & 2.0 confusing terms:

Low Speed USB is 1.5 Mbps
Full Speed USB is 12 Mbps
High Speed USB is 480 Mbps
