RE: Good news and bad news

I'm sure newmp3technology would be willing to do a re-fix, but how would
they know if it was working without the firmware on the flash chip?

Even if the firmware is replaced, how long will it last before it hardware
faults again (without replacement of major components, like the pcb)?

And if I were to get a new Archos, it wouldn't be 60gb (unless I paid
somebody to mod it for me) and it might (here's my agenda again;) ) well
suffer from the same (lack of) quality control for which Archos is infamous.

But I do love hacking on my mp3 player. Unfortunately, the Neos look like
Fisher-Price toys.

Crap. This has been a week from hell.

can't you complain to them? they should "re"-fix it for free or at least
refund your money.
although you would have to do the uart boot mod for a fix to be useful.
