Could you please detail what law they threaten to use against you ?

If even Microsoft does not dare to sue the xbox linux (http://xbox-linux.sourceforge.net/) for publishing all details of their reverse engineering process, then I doubt Archos can do it without failing. If there was a single chance that Microsoft could win a trial against xbox-linux, be sure they would have tried. So I think there's not much risk there.
And the case is pretty similar since the xbox-linux team has published the decrypting algorythm for the original xbox firmware (ie ROM).

Anyhow, there's no DMCA in France yet and I'm ok to take the risk of legal action.
