As far as I have been able to find after spending many hours researching this topic, the best batteries are the Maha PowerEx 2200 mAh AA's. This looks like a very comprehensive comparison of all the major brands, and Powerex came out way on top. http://www.imaging-resource.com/ACCS/BATTS/BATTS.HTM I bought two sets of 4, and can vouch for their quality. This site has a lot of useful information about this issue of "conditioning" NiMH batteries. The only pain in the ass is how long it takes to discharge them following their guidelines. http://www.alltekpower.com/faq/index.asp?c=5 ----- Original Message ----- From: "BlueChip" <cs_bluechip_at_webtribe.net> To: <rockbox_at_cool.haxx.se> Sent: Friday, December 26, 2003 9:51 PM Subject: Re: HD register error > You should "prime" NimH batteries by complete charge, complete discharge, > complete charge, complete discharge, complete charge, use normally > > At 02:33 27/12/03, you wrote: > >On Fri, 26 Dec 2003 20:26:34 -0500, "Frank Incensed" > ><frankincensed_at_hotmail.com> wrote: > > > > >well when i plug into dc power it does the same thing wouldnt that be the > > >same as replacing the batteries? > > >the msg on the the screen says > > >HD register error > > >SC1 (85) 227 > > >SN1 (170) 0 > > >SC2 (170) 18 > > >SN2 (85) 211 > > > >No. The wall wart cannot supply enough power to spin up the drive.
