Don't know anything about the gmini, but as far as the jukebox recorder is concerned the whole analog circuit is so crappy that the noise of the hd that is recorded by the microphone is only an additional problem. When you unscrew your box you can see that even archos was aware of this problem: They bypassed the etched wires for the line in on the pcb with normal wires which they routed through the battery shell. Even though this may have reduced the noise inducted into the wires there still in too much. You can not get good recordings from the line in.
