Rockbox mail archiveSubject: Correct startup behavior for Recorder v2??Correct startup behavior for Recorder v2??
From: <wolf_bulkmail_at_comcast.net>
Date: Fri, 02 Jan 2004 21:56:05 +0000 When turning on my recently-purchased Archos Recorder v2 (20gig), I have to hold the "on" button for something like 3 seconds or so before the unit will turn on and stay on. Whether the charger is connected or not, this behavior is the same. If I simply click the "on" button, the unit's green light and red light will illuminate for approx 2 seconds, the red light will then go off followed by the backlight turning on. Following this, thw whole unit shuts down. (This whole series of events takes probably 3 seconds). It is only when I hold the "on" button down through this entire sequence will it turn on, stay on and then go to the Archos OS loader screen. Is this normal behavior from this device? The battery level indicates full and the player can work just fine when running off just batteries. I have not yet been brave enough to flash Rockbox and replace the Archos firmware with it but I am wondering if this is supposed to happen? Is this fixed by Rockbox? I couldn't find anything in the FAQs. When viewing the bootup AVI video (http://rockbox.haxx.se/docs/flash/rockbox_flash_boot.avi), it shows a single click starting an Archos device. Would my on-button behavior change if I were to flash Rockbox into the device EEPROM? Mine doesn't work that way and I'm just checking... Thanks for any feedback, - Eric PS: Running Rockbox (ajbrec.ajz) out of the root of the drive works fine - just haven't flashed it yet.
