Not necessarily.

On one hand, the Multimedias are complex pieces of hardware that it's far from from certain that we will be able to make use of fully, since like with the MAS much of the necessary programming information is kept hidden from us "mere mortals" by the manufacturer (TI in this case).

On the other hand, getting Rockbox up and running to give the Multimedias the same MP3 player/recorder capabilitios we have today is probably not *that* big a deal since it uses the same MP3 chip as our current recorders. The TI DSP is where the really tricky stuff, like playing movies, lies. The question then becomes: Is it worth the effort of porting Rockbox to the Multimedia if we can't play movies on it?

Additionally, I would very much like to see Rockbox moving away from being an "open source archos firmware" to becoming an "open source mp3/media player firmware". To do this, we obviously need to port to players from other manufacturers.
