I took apart a cell phone once... but the keypad was connected to the board via this massive set of pins... it would be... somewhat difficult, I'd say... unless you know of a model with a "simple" keypad implementation... ----- Original Message ----- From: Touillaud Nicolas To: 'rockbox_at_cool.haxx.se' Sent: Monday, January 12, 2004 8:44 AM Subject: RE: button? Such "standardization" (not sure of the spelling..) should be a way to use simple, home-made, remote controls ! I know there is an hardware hack to enable the use of the remote control with the fmr, but the idea could be be recyling broken (ie. inexpensive) cell-phone keyboards... Of course, this is just an idea, not a project... I don't think much skill(I have none myself) is needed for an immediate "remedy", but I figure, since the only feasible option seems to be, to solder wires and relocate the buttons, might as well see if an interface of some sort can be standardized... for future expansion. The layout of the buttons... is similar, but not exactly beneath each button of the layout. The F1, F2, and F3 keys, for example, are not on the same line(F1 is a little higher, I believe). There is always the solution of just cutting out the layout part of the top lid... and then you can directly press the buttons themselves... although that leaves the Archos vulnerable.
