Strange HDD error, help apreciated

Hey all!

first off, I'd like to say thanks to all those who've worked on Rockbox.
I just can't say enough about its greatness.

My machine:
Jukebox Recorder (Original, 6 gb model)
Rockbox CVS: 040130 (Flashed)
Hitachi_DK23DA-20 (20gb)

My problem:
After working fine recently, I started up Rockbox to "Error accessing
playlist control file". After a day of this, the Recorder no longer shows
all my files. The only things apparently present in the rtoot directory
are several recorded voice memos and two directories I created a long time
ago, named ".movies" and ".transfer".

Secondly, on connecting to my computer to see if the firmware was the
problem, my computer restarted. As soon as Windows (2000) tried recoginize
my Archos, it prompted it to restart. And if I try to restart with the
Archos already plugged in, it gives me a strange blue error screen telling
me to remove all hardware that may not be functioning properly...

I'm afraid that my HDD is dying. But it works, just not interfacing w/
usb, and not displaying all my files. (in the menu, /info/Rockbox Info
tells me that off an 18.6 gb HDD, 2.0 gb are free: which is what it was.
So either that wasn't reset, or my Archos is hiding my files!) So I really
don't know what the problem is. Any help would be immensly appreciated, as
I'm starting to go through withdrawals already.

Thanks,
    Peter
