The big thing with direct cut, is that it is totally lossless - of course, that means no clean-up features! For clean up, you will go a long way to find anything the excel Sonic Foundry's Noise Reduction plugin ...but it is NOT free! You can find demo and time-crippled versions of SF s/w here: http://mediasoftware.sonypictures.com/download/default.asp ...but if it still works the same way as it did years ago (I stopped on v4.5), you will need to purchase a serial number to unlock everything.
