This is not necessarily a compete solution to your second problem, but
it's really much easier to make a playlist of all your mp3's with winamp
or some other program

Subject: questions from new recorderv2 user
I am a new recorder v2 user, this is the one sold by amazon, no fm, no
multimedia, 20gb, and uses built in battery, not AAs.
I've loaded rockbox-2.1-recorderv2.zip and have read the manual (2.1).
things work great, and I love the speed and improvements over the
factory firmware. Note that I have only loaded the ajbrec.ajz file in
root. I have not flashed the firmware, which is currently the archos
Some questions I have are:
1) is that FM radio comes up in the menus, but this model has no FM
not a problem, but it goes to a blank screen that seems semi locked up.
2) I cannot get either the dynamic or create a playlist from the root to
index properly. I have about 10 subdirs with band names, and under them
album names, under them .mp3 songs (vbr). When I try to create a
from the root dir, it reads the mp3s in the root, then within about 10
seconds stops playing of the current song. Eventually it builds a
playlist of the 10 songs in the root, but does not recognize the files
the recursed subdirs (setting is on).
Those are the major issues right now, of course shuffle setting is on,
basically looking for a way to shuffle through the whole disk without
putting all the mp3 files in a single directory.
