the spec for usb 2 is up to 480, and 12 for 1.1, but they may have been
referring to actual data transfer as per one review I read (zdnet or cnet I
think), where the actual transfer rate was like 1mbps on usb 1.1, and 12mbps
on a usb 2.0 port.

Even an ipod doesn't transfer songs at firewire's 400mbps, but does so much
quick than the archos...

You are correct, Archos is wrong. Unless they mean mega*byte* per
second. Then they are closer to the truth.
