No, this was always the observed behaviour.
Basically, like in Trent's explanation, the damage to the .rockbox
folder is done right from the first playing of music, but i have to stop
playing, and start again the get the *PANIC* Dir entry 1 in sector 0 is
not free 2E 2E 20 20.
