I did that at first.

The on+play menu isn't fit for operating in empty directories. If you
enter an empty directory and press on+play (to create another one) there
  is no file to select, and the arguments passed to it is garbage. I
didn't bother to fix that, so I ended up putting Create Directory in the
main menu instead.
