Subject: Reflashing to Archos - IMPORTANT!

Reflashing to Archos - IMPORTANT!

From: Fred <planet77_at_gmx.net>

Hi everybody!

I am using my flashed Archos for a long time now and I have written here before
that after some songs the archos stops playing music and I can see the time
running but there is no more music, if I want to go to the next track I have to
wait sometimes for ca. 40 seconds or even longer sometimes and plays the next song
directly. Sometimes I have to turn the power off and start the Archos again before
anything happens (Archos JBR 20 GB)
If I press F1 while starting and use the 'old' Archos firmware the problems just
don't appear. It has nothing to do with the mp3's, I tested this. I love the
rockboxx software and will keep a copy on my Archos so I can stil use it if I
want.
The problem is that I don't really know how to reflash my archos, when I flashed I
saved some files, for example:

size: 124.955 20030616_othelo_chip8.zip
size: 18.108 chip8-20030616.pat
size: 262.144 internal_rom_2000000-203ffff.bin
size: 49.897 othelo11-20030616.pat
size: 17.643 patches.zip
size: 183.502 20030616_othelo_chip8.ajz

Maybe some files aren't there from flashing, I had an archos directory maybe
another file is in it that has nothing to do with the flashing process!!
My F1 Button needs to be pushed really hard, that the old software starts and I
don't want to do this all the time. It would be nice if you could tell me in a
short way what I have got to do and perhaps give me a link. Perhaps a link where
it is desrcibed how to flash my archos and you tell me which files I have to
exchange?
I donnot know, when it is not to complicated please tell me what I have to do step
by step, it would be very nice.
Once again - I love the Rockboxx project and will always keep a copy on my archos
and I will test the actual builds, but at the moment it is better if my archos is
in its original state.

Have a nice day

Fred
